The Michlig family has been in the petroleum business since 1976.
We want to take this time to thank you for the opportunity to work with you. We look forward to having you as a customer, and part of the Michlig Energy team. I also want to let you know a little bit about who we are and what we stand for. We are not just a big company who loses sight of what got us to where we are today. We are a family-owned business who works very hard to make sure our best assets are taken care of first, which are our employees and you, our customers.
Born and raised in the areas we serve
All of us here at Michlig Energy were born and raised in the areas we serve. We believe in our small communities and try to do everything we can to be involved, and help where we can. We are proud to say that we have always been a family-owned and operated business. We have taken steps to ensure long term growth and we work very hard every day to be the best in the industry so we will be here in the future.
Family-owned since 1973
Here is a bit of history about Michlig Agricenter and how Michlig Energy came to be where it is today. My father, Joe Michlig, bought into the business when it was just a feed mill back in 1973. My father along with his partner grew the business by adding fertilizer and chemicals, as they continued to grow their grain storage and drying.
In 1986 he added fuel, propane, and lubricants to the business. In 1996, my father sold the business to my brother-in-law and sister, Don and Val King. They continued to grow the business by purchasing TWAG in Walnut, and grain elevators in Bradford, Cambridge, and Mineral.
We purchased the petroleum division of the business from my brother-in-law and sister in August of 2011. We currently have four full-service locations: Manlius, Cambridge, Bradford and Peru. We also have a satellite Propane location in Hoopole. We just added our new location in Peru in 2024 to expand and better serve the customers we already have in that area.
My son, Jaden, is overseeing the growth and development at the Peru location. Which will give him experience for his future with the company. Prior to buying the petroleum division I worked in the business full-time since 1996, and part time through high school and college since 1986. I remember going out with my father in the fuel truck on many occasions before I was even able to drive. I have always been a part of this business and am happy to be with it today.
Both of my boys have worked their summers doing maintenance, painting tanks, and learning the business. They are just as happy as I am to be a part of a family-owned business in communities that have been a part of all our lives. I am excited to say that we take pride in everything we do. We always try to do what is best for our customers and our employees.
Our crew here at Michlig Energy have many years of experience in the lubricant, fuel, and propane business and can take care of all your petroleum needs. We also carry a full line of filters, and truck and automotive parts with a delivery truck that runs five days a week.
